If there's one thing you should make yourself for pizza night at home, it's the sauce. This tomato pizza sauce takes just 5 minutes to make in a food processor, and is so insanely delicious. You just put all the ingredients into the bowl of the processor, turn it on, and you have the perfect base for whatever pizza you want to make. The fresh basil adds a lot here, as does the dried oregano.

The sauce will keep for 5 days in the fridge, after which it can be frozen for your next pizza night! Yields 4 cups, enough for ~5-6 of the smaller pizzas in my collection (or 2-3 regular sheet pan size pizzas).

Special Equipment

Food Processor

Ingredients

28
ounces
28 oz can or box tomatoes
whole, diced, pureed - doesn't matter!
1
bunch
basil leaves (~1 cup tightly packed)
leaves only
2
tablespoons
olive oil
2
teaspoons
dried oregano
2
teaspoons
kosher salt

Directions

Step 1

Add all ingredients to a food processor fitted with the blade attachment.

Step 2

Run the processor until smooth. Stop the motor, scrape down the sides with a rubber spatula, and pulse again a few times. Transfer to a sealable container until ready to use. Refrigerate, sealed, for 5 days or freeze for up to a month.
