This is a nice autumnal Negroni variation — without Campari or gin.

We started by riffing on the Kingston Negroni, which swaps out gin for Jamaican rum (Kingston is Jamaica’s capitol). We kept the KINGston rum and SWEET vermouth, then swapped out Campari for a COLA-tasting amaro (made from the Kola nut).

There you have it. SWEET. KING. COLA.

The result tastes like an elevated version of a rum and Coke.

Ingredients

11/2
ounces
jamaican rum
We use Appleton
1
ounce
sweet vermouth
1
ounce
amaro
Preferably Meletti
2

peychaud's bitters
You can also vary this with tiki bitters

Combine liquid ingredients, preferably in a rocks glass.

Step 2

Add ice, preferably one large ice cube, and stir to chill.

Step 3

Express the orange peel (squeezing peel with outer side toward the drink) and add to glass.
