Bowle is Germany's answer to Sangria, offering a refreshing mix of white wine, sparkling wine, or water with a variety of fruits. You can use just about any fruit you like—fresh, frozen, or canned—making it an adaptable and crowd-pleasing drink for warm weather and parties.

In May, Germans turn to Maibowle, a seasonal twist on this classic beverage. Instead of fruits, it's made with woodruff, a strongly scented herb. Known for its sweet, earthy aroma, it’s often found growing at the edge of forests, where the shade and moisture help it thrive. This little plant has a way of turning ordinary drinks into something special, whether it's added to Maibowle or used in Berliner Weisse.

Berliner Weisse is a cloudy, sour wheat beer. It's typically served with a syrup—either raspberry (which gives it a vibrant red color) or woodruff (a distinctive green)—to balance the tartness of the beer with a touch of sweetness. The choice of syrup not only adds a splash of color but also a burst of flavor that complements the beer's crisp, tangy character.
