I like pumpkin pie but I LOVE sweet potato pie. I grea up with sweet potato pies and similar to a pumpkin pie, it just seems like Thanksgiving when you have a sweet potato pie.
Couple notes:
Make sure to roast the sweet potatoes, this will intensify the sweet ptoato flavor. You can make the pie dough in advance and store wrapped in plastic in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to a month. The key to getting a smooth pie is to not over mix the filling and let it cool in the oven. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream
