I am lowkey obsessed with granita. It’s just like the best version of shave-ice because the flavors are usually natural and fresh. This granita is made with blended watermelon, but instead of just watermelon here, I marinate small chunks of cantaloupe type melon with wine. So each bite is sweet, icy-refreshing, crunchy, soft, and boozy. It is the perfect summer dessert or it can be just a snacky spoonful on a hot afternoon.
Some practical stuff: If you don’t have a blender, you can use a food processor, but be careful when taking off the blade and other parts. My amounts of sugar are a guide. You should taste your melon and decide if it needs more or less sweetening. Try chilling your serving bowls 15 minutes before serving so the granita melts slower.
